During the summer of 2023, Alar Ecology will be conducting a research project looking at the thermal properties of barn owl nest boxes. The main objective of this project will be to gather data that will inform nest box deployment in exposed positions subject to potential overheating.
At present we are planning to make and erect six boxes which will differ in the materials used in their construction and modifications made to control air flow and temperature.
Our intention is to publish and present the results and we are looking for sponsorship which will, of course, be duly (and prominently) acknowledged.
We are looking for individual or corporate contributions of £200, which will cover the cost of constructing one box and deploying it with a data logger.
